The Reason For Reading

From a very early age, I have read. Without books, my spirit would've shriveled up and died, just like a rotten cabbage. Reading keeps me sane, and it defines me. I always carry a book with me when I go anywhere, and I find time to read, even when I have 100 exams I need to study for. I mostly like YA, with the exception of some middle grade and NA books.
Shift - Em Bailey Honestly? This sat on my bedside table for what, a month? Yes, I have borrowed a hideous amount of awesome books from the library, but this just couldn't hold my attention enough for me to want to continue reading it.
Crossing the Line (Pushing the Limits, #1.5) - Katie McGarry So cute, dammit! :3
Grumpy Cat: A Grumpy Book - Grumpy Cat WHAAAAAT???!!! Is this for real?! I love the grumpy cat!!!
Paper Towns - John Green I was a little disappointed, to be honest. I'd just finished The Fault in our Stars and loved it, and wanted to give another of John Green's books a try. But unlike our lovely friend, Paper Towns just didn't live up to the hype. I will admit I did skim some whole paragraphs, but only because I felt horribly bored. The beginning was really good though, I'll give John Green that. But what really ruined it for me?I just didn't understand what was so great about Margo. I mean, we barely saw her at all, and why did Q feel attracted to her so much? I mean, he was practically obsessing over her the whole book. So John Green . . .
The Selection - Kiera Cass Actual rating: 2.5 starsI really liked the concept, and I liked the way this book held my attention throughout, but with no real cliffhanger (well, I thought there was no cliffhanger. I may be wrong.), which was dreadfully annoying. Most of the 35 girls we begin with don't get named at all, or only until they are sent home -______- That really pissed me off, but oh well, those girls were probably just as superficial as everyone else. Something else that also peeved me off was the caste system; if you are a 5 and supposedly not well off, why the hell do you have a fridge? Also, it is mentioned once that America's family once were really poor at a time so they had to choose whether to keep their electricity or their food. WTF?! Most poor people wouldn't be able to afford electricity!I was disapointed with the love triangle. I mean, is it impossible nowadays for a YA book not to have a love triangle?! They piss me off!But . . . I don't want to admit this, but I did enjoy The Selection. Enough to give it 2.5 stars anyhow. But God, I want that dress on the front cover so bad. If I had it I'd probably do this all day long...
Body Language: How to Read Others' Thoughts by Their Gestures - Allan Pease Since psychology is one of my electives next year, I figured I should read this. I found this book at the bottom of a dusty pile of books last read in 1967 at a garage sale. It was only 20c so I figured "what could I loose?" So I bought it.And now it looks just plain awkward on my shelf with shiny new YA books, Just great.
Strange Angels - St. Crow, Lili I don't know how I feel about this book. My zombie-killing part of me screams "GIVE THIS 5 STARS, GODDAMMIT!!!", while the more thoughtful part of me thinks "That was pretty bad." Oh what the fuck.Lets just rate this 3 stars, build ourselves a bridge and get over with it.God, I'm an idiot.
The Fault in Our Stars - John Green When I finished I was all like Then I started crying and being a weird personI am officially in love. Okay?Okay.
Intertwined - Gena Showalter This just didn't do it for me. Will reread and maybe will finish it :/
The DUFF: Designated Ugly Fat Friend - Kody Keplinger . . . no words can exactly describe the love I feel for this book. It was just AMAZEBALLS!! I loved Bianca's spunky attitude! I loved Wesley! And I loved Bianca's friends, Casey and Jessica! They had individual personalities and Jessica especially was so cute!
Anna and the French Kiss - Stephanie Perkins In the early pages of this book, Anna was COMPLETELY and UTTERLY unlikeable. But I found, the further I discovered her tale, the more I liked her. But St Clair? I liked him when I first read him. It was love at first sight!
Forgive My Fins - Tera Lynn Childs IT WAS SO DAMN CUTE :3
Legend - Marie Lu This book . . . is literally pure awesomeness. Best dystopian since Divergent and the HG!!
Alaska - Sue Saliba A pet peeve of mine is bad grammar. So can you understand why I felt the need to throw this book against a brick wall everytime I read a sentence. I mean, SERIOUSLY! Is it so hard to spell Ethan with a capital letter instead ethan?! AAARGH!!!!
Awake at Dawn - C.C. Hunter Actual rating: 2.5 starsTo be honest, this book was incredibly slow and I felt that nothing major or important occurred, except for Kylie discovering some of her new powers. And may I point out what a stupid name Fredericka is? No wonder the poor girl is always grumpy! I would be too if I had a name like that! Also with the names . . . I mean COME ON! The “baddie’s” name is Mario? SERIOUSLY?! Look, no offence Italian’s, but whenever I hear the name Mario I think of Super Mario Bros and I just can’t take it very seriously! I just can’t!But you know, I’d actually give this a higher rating if I hadn’t rolled my eyes so much while reading. I mean, I’m surprised my eyes didn’t end up on the floor with how much rolling I’d done.
Born at Midnight - C.C. Hunter I didn't like Kylie's constant bitching; it really grated on my nerves. Other than that, I enjoyed this book.
