The Reason For Reading

From a very early age, I have read. Without books, my spirit would've shriveled up and died, just like a rotten cabbage. Reading keeps me sane, and it defines me. I always carry a book with me when I go anywhere, and I find time to read, even when I have 100 exams I need to study for. I mostly like YA, with the exception of some middle grade and NA books.
Night World, No. 1 - L.J. Smith I've never liked anything of L. J Smith's, but I hesitantly gave this a try as many of my friends have recommended this. Honestly, I don't know why. I didn't care for any of the characters and the way the book felt way too rushed. Time to read some Julie Kagawa or John Green to calm my nerves, Lol :)
Nightshade - Couldn't read past the midway mark. Unbearably boring and Calla's relationship with what's-their-names didn't even make sense to me. Didn't see what the attraction to either of them was. Might try to re-read this someday, maybe when I don't have 50 library books that need to be returned in 4 weeks. A bummer considering I had high hopes with this book (with the beautiful cover and all . . .). Oh well. Off to reading some better books that actually make sense.
Clockwork Angel - Cassandra Clare ...... no words can express the emotion felt when I flipped the last page . . . I am, once again, in love with one of CC's fantasy worlds. And even though I've seen fangirling over Will, I think he's pretty much an asshole. I like Jem much better!!
Free Four - 'Veronica Roth' Ok, I recently discovered this book and I was all like 'THERE'S ANOTHER DIVERGENT BOOK?! AND FROM FOUR'S POV?!!!' aaaaand I was fangirling like a crazy person. I don't give a crap if it only in 13 pages and only took me 10 minutes to read. I don't give a crap at all.Now I just want October 22nd to come closer even more, IF THAT'S EVEN POSSIBLE!!!
Abandon - Meg Cabot I liked it. It wasn't exactly great, especially in the beginning where it seemed to drag on forever, but it was good.Onto book two now then :)
Lies Beneath - Anne Greenwood Brown This book just didn't live up to my expectations. A truly boring read.
Ultimate Fashionista the Young Hollywood style guide - Alana Wulff A really fun and quick read. I was very happy to see some of my favourite celebrities in there. Avril Lavigne, Demi Lovato, Amanda Seyfried, Emma Stone . . . the list is endless! :)
Prom Nights from Hell - Michele Jaffe, Lauren Myracle, Stephenie Meyer Only the Meg Cabot story I enjoyed. The rest of the stories can only be described as wish-washy and lost.
Uglies - Scott Westerfeld I just couldn't finish this book. Not because I hated it, but because of the . . .. I don't know how you say it. But i was up to the page where the Special Circumstances find the Smoke and they uncuff Tally . . . ooh, I just COULDN'T read any further! Like the bit where the main guy gets themselves into some deep sh*t. Yeah, that's it.
Matched - Ally Condie I didn't like how there was hardly any characterisation in any of the characters, except for the Grandfather (who was one of my favourite characters)The reference to Greek mythology (Pages 234 to 236) made me put up an extra star, just because 1. I love Greek mythology and 2. Because Sisyphus was such a good reference for a dystopian book like this. But this book . . . the only tension that occurred really happened in the last 50 pages of the text. Where was the climax, where was the rising tension throughout the book? Nowhere, thats where. There was no sense of urgency for most of the book and this really ruined it for me. I'll still try the second book though, and maybe it'll get better.
Across the Universe - Beth Revis I loved, loved, LOVED this book. . . even though I thought the Season was mentioned a bit too much (and shown VERY graphically . . . thank god I wasn't eating . . .), I think that just added realism into the story.
The Raven Boys - Maggie Stiefvater I'll re-read this in a couple of months because while the concept sounds promising, I just couldn't get into the book.
The Immortal Rules - Julie Kagawa You are a monster. You will always be a monster-there is no turning back from it. But what type of monster you become is entirely up to you.Well, that was one hell of an awesomesauce rollercoaster!!If you know me, you know I have a thing for Julie Kagawa. She is, without a doubt, the best author since the time of nobody. God, I’d buy her goddamned grocery list, if I could! But onto the actual review. When I first read that Allie was Japanese, I was all like “Well, if that’s the case, wtf is with the cover???” Not that I’m complaining about that beautiful cover. But, you know, I wish they’d gotten the nationality right. Because that cover model is definitely not Asian. At first, I was kinda put out with Julie writing a vampire novel. I mean, when you go shopping for new books (Guilty pleasures, hehehe), there is always that vampire novel on the shelf, just staring at you and daring you to pick it up and read it. But since I ignore the books desperate pleas, I never pick it up, because to be honest, I’m quite over the vampire phase thing-y. Especially since Twilight, with the I’m-practically-a-fucking-disco-ball mehness. So yeah. I was hesitant to pick this up, but since it came for free in my friends magazine, and she couldn’t be bothered reading it (can you IMAGINE?!) so she gave it too me, knowing that Julie Kagawa is my favourite author and all. But I’m glad I did. Pick it up, I mean.Allison Sekemoto lives in a dystopian world full of hunger, rabids and …. well vampires! There is also the red lung disease, which threatens both humans and vampires alike. So Allison lives with a bunch of other dudes in the outskirts of a big vampire city, trying to find food by day and hiding at night. So when Allie finds a whole basement filled with canned goodness, she thinks it’s a dream from heaven. That is, until she’s attacked by rabids and saved by Kanin, a vampire and also a relative of the man who created the red lung disease. He gives our lovely heroine two choices that day: either 1. She dies or 2. She’ll be turned into a vampire and what she despises the most. And because Allison doesn’t want to ‘die’ die . . . you can guess what happens. And since these vampires are pretty gory and baddass, I like them too. These vampires are REAL!Can't be bothered writing rest of review. It's like 1am, dammit!!

Glass Houses (Morganville Vampires)

Glass Houses - Rachel Caine This book doesn't even deserve 1 star. I couldn't read past page 72. I just couldn't make myself finish it. I just hated, hated HATED IT!!!The main character *I forgot her name* is supposed to be smart and intelligent, yet she makes the stupidest mistakes and if I remember correctly, on page 15, she clearly quotes "What normal girl loved physics? Abnormal ones. Ones who were not ever going to be hot. And face it, being hot? That was what life was all about." THE F***! You did NOT just say that! Glad I can now recommend to my friends to stay the hell away from this series. Sorry if I offended anyone. But it needed to be said.
Waking Dream - Rhiannon Lassiter This book was terribly confusing at times, and I really hope you weren't supposed to like Poppy, or even feel sympathy for her. I despised her so much, and hated reading from her POV. Such a bitchy female. But the concept of the book was good, I guess. I wouldn't read it again, though.
Shatter Me - Tahereh Mafi ...... I don't know what to say really. Maybe ...Well, not exactly that, but you know what I mean. I hope :/I will try to read this again, to try to see what the hype was about. Maybe.
